Yonex S-Fit tennis tennis rackets hit the UK!

Yonex has launched a range of tennis rackets called S-Fit. These new tennis rackets feature two unique racket technologies focusing on racket customisation and increased stability, and are targeted at the improver market.

Yonex’s new S-Fit tennis rackets are targeted entirely at the improver/intermediate market and use a new technology called Select-Fit, hence “S-Fit”!

Yonex have released three S-Fit tennis rackets in the range; the S-Fit 1, S-Fit 3 and the S-Fit 5. The S-Fit 1, the more balanced frame in the range, would be a good pick for the intermediate to advanced players looking to improve their game. The S-Fit 3 and S-Fit 5 cater for players looking for more power; with the 5 being the most powerful and the 3 offering a bit more feel.

Yonex’s Select Fit technology is designed to give players a choice in the racket’s performance. Basically players have a choice of two different stringing patterns; one providing a more solid feel for control, and the other providing more comfort for more power. This provides the player with a great level of customisation, however with the rackets designed for the improver market, I personally doubt whether players would use this feature. Only time will tell. I think this technology would be better suited for Yonex’s player’s frames (similar to Prince’s EXO3 Rebel and O3 Speedport Black which both use similar technologies). I wouldn’t be surprised to see this technology being used in the next generation RDiS 100 and RDiS 300, but not for another 12 months at least.

The second new technology used in the S-Fit range is the Duel OPS (Oval Pressed Shaft), which is designed to provide a more comfortable feel, a sharper response from the string bed and higher repulsion power without increasing the frame thickness.

Interestingly, even though all three rackets in the current S-Fit range play completely differently, they are all the same price. This is the first time I have seen a racket range launch with three totally different frames all at the same price. This is strange seeing as you obviously get more racket for your money with the powerful S-Fit 5, rather than the S-Fit 1 with its smaller head size and thinner beam.

With the exception of the S-Fit 1, aesthetically they won’t suit every ones tastes, not really catering for all improver players. However it’s how they play that really matters! So keep posted for our reviews as soon as we get our demo’s strung up!
